Nepal Tiger Trust (NTT), with funding support from the Nepal Tiger Fund, has launched an educational assistance program for children affected by tiger-related incidents in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park. In its initial phase, five children enrolled in three different schools have been selected for support.
As part of the broader effort to strengthen tiger conservation and reduce human–tiger conflict, NTT and the Nepal Tiger Fund signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in early 2026. The program involves assessing tiger conflict cases, identifying affected families, visiting households to understand economic and educational challenges, and coordinating with schools to determine appropriate support needs.

This year, five children were identified—three from Pandavnagar in the Madi Valley and one each from Jagatpur and Sukranagar. On May 19, 2026, NTT representatives, including Board Secretary Gauri Malakar and admin assistant Bishnu Mahato, visited all three schools to distribute school bags, uniforms, stationery, and to arrange transportation and meal support for the full academic year.

NTT will continue monitoring the children’s educational progress and will evaluate program outcomes at the end of the year. By supporting tiger victim families, the initiative aims to foster positive perceptions of tiger conservation among younger generations and promote long-term human–tiger coexistence.
