Nepali New Year 2083 – Celebrated as Wildlife Week in Chitwan National Park

Wishing you a very Happy Nepali New Year 2083.

To mark the occasion, Chitwan National Park celebrated seven days of Wildlife Week, beginning on April 15, 2026—the first day of the Nepali New Year. The opening event featured a Bird Watching program in Meghauli, jointly participated in by representatives from the National Park, Nepal Army, Buffer Zone User Committees, Community Forestry User Groups, Nature Guide Ghatgain Meghauli Association, Community-Based Anti-Poaching Unit, and Nepal Tiger Trust (NTT).

Bird Watching Event – April 15, 2026

Meeting Point: Meghauli Chowk

At 7:00 AM, all stakeholders gathered at Meghauli Chowk before heading to the Radha Krishna Community Forest for the bird-watching program. Participants included Assistant Warden Sujita Shrestha and Pravin Paudel, Park Game Scouts, Nepal Army personnel, Buffer Zone User Committee members, Radha Krishna Community Forest representatives, nature guides association president Mr. Manish Limbu, Community-Based Anti-Poaching Unit members, and NTT representatives Baburam Mahato, Raju Kumal, Subhas Mahato, and volunteer Emily Howard.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for collaboration, learning, and appreciation of local biodiversity.

Participatory Conservation
