Meghauli Pothi was born in August 2014 and has been closely monitored since then. She has exhibited remarkable reproductive success and over her 10-year lifespan, she has given birth to three litters, totaling 10 cubs. Meghauli Pothi’s lineage, age, and reproductive success are crucial for maintaining a healthy tiger population in Chitwan, Nepal.

· Birth and Parentage: Meghauli Pothi, a resident tiger, was born in August 2014. She was one of three cubs born to Baghmara Pothi and Gaida Khawa male. We obtained her first photos on January 5, 2015.

· Litters and Survival: Meghauli Pothi first litter was born in August 2018 (3 cubs), fathered by resident male MT8 Bhale.

A second litter (3 cubs), also sired by MT8 Bhale, was born in September 2021.

Finally, the third litter (4 cubs), fathered by male MT3, was born in September 2023. Notably, two of her female cubs from the first and second litters have successfully settled in the area, contributing to the stability of the Chitwan tiger population.

· Monitoring and Protection: The Long Term Tiger Monitoring project uses camera trapping and pugmark tracking to study tiger’s movement, activity patterns and reproduction. We continue to monitor and protect Meghauli Pothi and her cubs.
