Key Training Outcomes

  • Active action for forest fire control: One of the most critical lessons was the importance of coordination among the team, skill of  fire control with local available tools in community and not abandoning a fire prematurely. Trainees were taught that they must not leave the site just because the fire appears to have diminished; instead, they must continue the suppression process until it is completely extinguished. They were also briefed about the urgency of calling fire control authorities in the condition when community approach of control fire is not sufficient.

  • Understanding Fire Heat and Intensity: Participants experienced firsthand how even a small fire generates a surprising amount of heat. This demonstration helped the youths understand the potential intensity of a full-scale forest fire and the immediate physical impact it has on those attempting to control it.

  • Managing Dehydration and Physical Toll: The session highlighted the severe risk of dehydration faced by firefighters due to intense heat exposure. Trainees learned that maintaining physical health is a team effort, requiring others to be ready with water and hydration support to assist those on the front lines.
